This is a first generation Speedmaster X-33, a model that was designed with the assistance of NASA astronauts, and has been flight-qualified for space missions. Sometimes dubbed the “Mars Watch” by collectors, the piece sports a variety of functions commonly seen in many of Omega’s Professional watches. An alarm that sounds at 80 decibels (a Nasa requirement), 24 hour clock, day-date functions, and a chronograph, and a quartz precision multifunction movement for the level of accuracy and dependability required by astronauts and pilots. Despite its highly pragmatic design, the polished titanium bezel, pushers, and bracelet give the piece a sort of functional beauty.
