PJ’s Watch Notes of the Week

Kobold – Arctic Diver ‘Swiss’

This is a great tool watch, over-engineered for extremely rugged wear. This version of the Arctic Diver is made with the tried and true ETA 2824-2 movement over Kobold’s new ‘in-house’ movements. If you’re considering this piece you should know they look exceptionally impressive on custom straps from Rob Montana.

Jaeger-LeCoultre : Master Calendar : Q151842A

This piece would be considered a grail watch by many aficionados.  An In-house movement designed and manufactured by one of the most prestigious names in watchmaking.  This is a full calendar complication with power reserve, yet the dial is clean, not overly crowded.  This piece received our top grading of Like new and comes complete, with full box and papers with recent purchase date.  It timed out within chronometer specs and a strong (300+ degrees) balance amplitude on our timing machine.

Zenith showcasing its El Primero Cal. 400 36’000 VpH

A high beat chronograph movement like this is truly a pleasure to watch in action. It is just so smoothly operating with no stutter or hesitation to the movement of the seconds hands.  This very recent model is a  a nice improvement over earlier versions with a larger case and easier to read dial.  This specific piece was owned for only a few months by a careful collector and is in pristine condition – 99% Like New would pass for actually new.

Dubey & Schaldenbrand : Gran’ Chrono

This piece features a heavily reworked and hand engraved movement, one of the hallmarks of the Dubey & Schaldenbrand brand, one of the few independently owned traditional Swiss watch companies.
