IWC Ingenieur Watches

The first I.W.C. Ingenieur was presented in 1955 as a reaction to the increase of professionals working in the presence of magnetic fields, which can disrupt the precision of a timepiece. The first generation was the brainchild of IWC's then Technical Director Albert Pellaton, and reached its pinnacle in 1964 with the 854 and 8541 calibres. The second iteration, launched in 1967, included a date window. Gerald Genta's design, the 1976 Ingenieur SL, incorporated the now characteristic five screws on the bezel and has influenced the modern appearance of the line. Modern Ingenieur models -- including the Automatic, the Chronograph Silberpfeil, Chronograph Racer, and the Automatic AMG Black Series -- come in carbon, ceramic, and titanium builds in addition to the classic stainless steel.
