Panerai Luminor Watches

The Panerai Luminor line, like its sister watch family Radiomir, was given its title from the luminescent dial markings that made the watches invaluable to Italian navy commandos early in the 20th century. Since that time, the Luminor has become associated with the signature case and the radioactive element tritium -- which gave the original watches their night-time shine -- has been replaced with a safe phosphorescent material. The watches, which have the iconic half-crescent crown guard and lever, are available in stainless steel, titanium, and red gold.
Panerai and the Luminor in particular came to particular attention in 1995 with a celebrity endorsement when Sylvester Stallone purchased one of the watches while in Rome and wore it during the filming of the 1996 film Daylight.
